What to Bring to the Dealership when Buying a Car

When you buy or lease a car here at Wyatt Johnson Toyota, we work hard to make your experience as efficient and stress-free as possible. In order to have a successful visit and drive home in a car you love, we need you to bring in the proper documentation. This allows the experts in our finance department to complete the legal paperwork and officially sign the car over to you. Keep reading to learn what to bring to a car dealership when buying or leasing a car and what’s needed if you’re trading in.

What Documents Do You Need to Buy a Car?

1. Your Driver’s License

Your license confirms your identity, but it also shows us that you can legally drive the car you’re acquiring.

2. Proof of Insurance

Car insurance is required by law in Tennessee (unless you fulfill the requirements that allow you to legally go without insurance — this involves a hefty payout and isn’t a common situation). We’ll need to see proof that you’re covered by insurance in order to sell you a vehicle.

3. Proof of Income

Please bring paystubs from your current job or any other proof of employment or income. These documents show that you’ll be able to make the payments on your vehicle if you finance it.

4. Proof of Residency

A utility bill or bank statement can work as proof of residency — it simply needs to have your name and address on it.

5. College or Military Documentation (If Applicable)

If you’re eligible for a college or military rebate, you’ll need to bring the proper documentation to prove your status. Visit our pages on the Toyota College Rebate or Military Rebate to learn more.

6. Payment Method

You’ll need a way to pay for the vehicle, whether you’re making a down payment or you’re paying in full. This can be a credit or debit card, a check, or a money order.

7. Loan Information (If Applicable)

If you have a loan from a third party (in other words, you’re not financing your vehicle through our dealership), you’ll need to bring loan documentation with you to our finance department.

8. Credit Score

Though not technically required, it’s helpful for you to be aware of your credit score before you visit us. If you finance your vehicle at our dealership, our finance team will run a check on your score to ensure your creditworthiness. However, having this information in mind while shopping will help inform your decision.

Woman Trading in a car in Clarksville, TN

What Do You Need to Lease a Car?

The documents needed to lease a car are the same as those required for buying, except for the loan information. It’s helpful to have your credit score in mind for leasing as well.

What Do I Need to Trade in My Car?

If you’re trading in your current car for a new one, bring all of the documents listed above along with the following items.

1. Vehicle Title

The title proves that you’re the owner of the car and have the legal right to trade it to our dealership.

2. Vehicle Registration

We’ll need proof of the vehicle’s registration in order to transfer it out of your name, even if the registration has expired.

3. Keys

Don’t forget to bring in all copies of the car keys when you trade in.

4. Service Records

Finally, if you have access to the car’s service records, please bring them with you. Not sure where to find service information? Search your car’s VIN on CARFAX to see what service records are listed for your vehicle.

2021 Toyota Camry

Irrespective of the angle from which you look at it on the outside, the 2021 Toyota Camry looks gorgeous. It has got several sharp curves which help it display confident body language. People who prefer comfortable and stylish family sedans should choose the car. It holds its ground in a world which is being increasingly swamped by crossovers and SUV’s.

Trims Available:

Toyota offers five variants of the 2021 Camry. These are:

  • LE
  • SE
  • XLE
  • XSE
  • TRD

A base L model was being offer earlier, which has been scrapped now and the lineup starts with the LE trim. The 2018 model of the Camry has been tremendously refreshed and is now available in 2021.

Exterior Appearance:

At first glance, the 2021 Toyota Camry may look identical to the 2020 model, but a closer look will reveal the difference. Changes have been made to the lower bumper to bring out the bold looking grill (LE and XLE). LED headlights and LED daytime running lights are standard. The front fascia of the sportier SE and XSE has been redesigned as well. Fog lights are not available on none of the trims. LED combination taillights are partially smoked on top (LE).

In terms of design, the new 2021 Toyota Camry is unique and tremendously different from all designs created in the past. Clearly it seems to be clamoring for attention from every corner.

Engine Specifications:

The LE gets a 2.5 liter, 4-cylinder engine with 203 hp of power and 184 lbs.-ft of torque. Those who want more power can always upgrade to a 3.5 liter V6 engine that produces 301 hp of power and 267 lbs.-ft of torque. Finally, there is a hybrid option too- the 2.5 liter engine here generates 176 hp of power and 163 lbs.-ft of torque. All engines are mated to a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). The engine is relatively throaty when pushed hard.

Interior Appearance:

The second row of seats in the Camry is comfortable, with a decent amount of Legroom and headroom. Trunk space available in this vehicle stands at 15.1 cubic feet. In terms of infotainment, a floating infotainment screen of either 7 inches or 9 inches is on offer. Wi-Fi connectivity, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto are standard features on the LE. The Camry hybrid’s battery has been shifted from the trunk to beneath the rear seats, thereby liberating space. The base LE trim does not get navigation. Air conditioning on the LE is the same as before, and it does not get automatic climate control.

While going up from a lower variant to a higher one, the difference in quality of materials is high. Sport SofTex®-trimmed front seats are available on the SE. The steering wheel gets leather trims here. Going up to the SE, three drive models are available- ECO, Normal, and Sport.

Safety Features:

The 2021 Toyota Camry has been able to earn a 5-star safety rating from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). Driver assistance features (Toyota Safety Sense 2.5) given below have been made standard on all trims:

  • Pre Collision System with Pedestrian Detection
  • Steering Assist
  • Road Sign Assist

How to do your Part to Support Environmental Protection

There are a lot of ways in which you can protect the environment, and these take very little time to do. You must commit to doing good for the environment, and you should stick to that plan.

These are some simple ways to become an active member of supporting the planet and doing something good for the environment. These can be done in your home and around you. You can also inspire and motivate others to do the same too.

  • Conserve Energy:

It is a known fact the people love a little warmth in the winters and a bit of coolness in the summers, but if you adjust a little during the hot time of the year and it can make a huge difference. You can reduce energy usage by using light bulbs that last for a longer period. This is a great way to save money as well as energy.

  • Conserve Water:

There are so many simple ways that can help you save water. While brushing your teeth, you can only turn on the water when you need it. Leftover water after boiling the potatoes can be used to water your plants. These simple ways can make a huge difference in protecting our environment because conserving water is one of the most important things that our planet requires.

  • Use Environmentally Favourable Products:

Try to use products that are free of dye, preservatives, flavours, fragrances, and that are cruelty-free. If you are looking for different ways to save the environment, then you can take out some time to research environmentally favourable products.

  • Compost Pile:

Food waste takes up a lot of space, but it can be used if you have a garden. You can start a compost pile, and all you need is to keep adding the food and yard waste to it. This fabulous compost can be used in your garden to add nutrients to your plans so that they grow healthier. You are not only saving the planet by reducing pollution, but you also are helping your plants to grow.

  • Pick Up Litter:

This could be a great way of setting an example. The next time you step out of the house can carry a bag and pick up any litter you find along the way. Teaching kids how to take care of the environment is the next step in protecting it.

6. Use Reusable Shopping Bags:

Many stores charge a fee if you use plastic bags, and some stores will give you a discount if you have a reusable bag. You can use bags made of cloth or recycles materials the next time you go shopping, and most of these bags last for years.

It is never too late to make efforts towards environment preservation. For Volunteering opportunities go to https://www.tectn.org/ for more information.

Top Misconceptions and Myths About Buying A Used Car

Are you planning to buy a used car? If you are, it is essential first to ward off all the stigmas attached to the notion. Used cars have always been overshadowed by the new cars in every way. After all, some people don’t want to get ahold of a used car, due to some misconceptions.

Here, in this blog below, we will dispel some myths about buying a used car.

Top Misconceptions and Myths about Buying A Used Car:

Irrespective of whether you are an amateur or an expert, buying a car is not an easy investment. There are many factors to consider before venturing into that arena.

When it comes to buying used cars, things get far more complicated than usual. There are certain myths and misconceptions to ward off before buying a used car.

  1. You Should Pay in Cash to Score A Good Deal:

This is a myth that needs to be busted. Paying in cash indeed helps you shake off interest rates, but that doesn’t mean you get a good deal when opting for the former. When it comes to purchasing a car, buying a used vehicle isn’t different from a new one. Credit score and down payment play a great role and thus shall be the ones to look after.

  1. The Car Has Something Wrong with It:

Reliability is something that has nothing to do with trading cars. People buy and sell cars for more than one reason. Thus, if you think that the previous owners are getting rid of a vehicle for the wrong reasons, and then think again.

Other than that, if you are concerned about the car, then check its history with the Vehicle History Report. This will answer all your questions and lay your worries to rest.

  1. Used Cars Lack of Safety:

Unless and until you are investing in a classic or antique car, you need not pay attention to all the other thoughts. Used cars have a lot of safety features, which make them the best option for buying. Thus, this myth about the lack of safety features in the car can be easily brushed away.

  1. Used Cars Guzzle Gas:

The amount of fuel a car uses depends on a whole variety of reasons. It is starting from the size of the engine to the age of the car. Thus, if a car is well-maintained and then resold, there is a high chance it won’t guzzle gas.

New 2021 Toyota Tundra- Massive is The Word

Few vehicles look as massive as a Toyota Tundra, at least in terms of cars and pickups. One wonders if the phrase “Larger than life” originated from here or not. In terms of design though, the vehicle doesn’t quite look as contemporary as some of its rivals Ford F150, Dodge Ram 1500, and Chevrolet Silverado. Therefore, Toyota looks to target those buyers looking for no-fuss, tough SUVs instead of the ones searching for good looking vehicles. No owner of this vehicle will ever complain about lack of space.

Trims on Offer:

Buyers have several trims to choose from, while looking to purchase the 2021 Toyota Tundra. Here they are:

  • SR5
  • SR
  • Platinum
  • Limited
  • TRD Pro
  • 1794 Edition

A few trims also get two new packages on certain trims. Called as Nightshade and Trail, they can add a bold and dominant style to such trim levels.

Outside Appearance:

From whichever angle one looks at the SUV, large is the only word that strikes a chord. Those who like straight lines of design will appreciate it, as there are very few curves. The front grille appears different as compared to earlier and is divided into two parts.

Buyers would get to choose from 12 different exterior color options on this vehicle. Other than this, 5 color options are also available on the inside.

Engine Power and Related Specifications:

Few vehicles can haul loads as well as the 2021 Toyota Tundra, which has the capacity to tow a tremendous 10,200 pounds. One can tap into the 381 horses of the 5.7 liter engine to get this vehicle moving, with the help of a 6-speed automatic transmission. Tremendous amount of thrust is available for users of this vehicle.

RWD (Rear Wheel Drive) is part of standard equipment here, and 4 Wheel Drive is an option. TRD Pro is an immensely capable trim of the 2021 Toyota Tundra.

Interior Appearance:

Room available in the Crew Max style is massive, as close as one can get to living in an apartment. All trims of the vehicle are now fitted with 7-inch touchscreen infotainment systems, which get the latest apps. Once again, it’s an interior without too much fuss, with all the right functions. Temperature controls are massive and very easy to use.

Seating in the last row is adequate to fit in children easily. Other interior features include:

  • WiFi hotspot
  • Six speaker audio system, which can be upgraded on the SR5 to seven or nine.
  • 3 USB ports
  • Inbuilt navigation
  • Multifunctional steering wheel
  • Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
  • Moonroof (1794 Edition and Platinum)
  • Satellite Radio
  • Heated and ventilated seats (Platinum and 1794 Edition)

Some variants of the vehicle seat 5 adults and some seat 6.

Safety Features:

Toyota has always been known for build quality, and this vehicle is built like a tank. Toyota Safety Sense, the Japanese manufacturer’s safety program, is standard for all trims. Here are the examples:

  • Automatic high beams
  • Forward Collision Mitigation
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Pedestrian Detection System
  • Lane departure warning
  • Blind Spot Monitoring (Platinum and 1794 Edition)

The vehicle also gets an Electronic Trailer Brake controller feature, which is most helpful.

More Miles with Every Liter of Fuel

Prices of gas tend to vary among different cities in the US, and in various countries of the world as well. Most of these prices are unpredictable. Although these costs are not in your hand, there are steps you can follow to extract the best mileage from your car. Such steps can be applied to all cars, irrespective of their categories. Many methods are helpful in prolonging vehicle life as well.

How to get the Best Fuel Economy

  1. Planning Trips: Are multiple destinations part of your agenda on one day? If your answer to this question is yes, make sure you add all places to the map to check for the most suitable route. This will ensure that you cover the areas in a single line and do not travel back and forth, thereby saving on fuel costs and getting maximum mileage.
  2. Select the Right Gear: You will never have to worry about the gars in anautomatic vehicle, but it is not the same in a car with stick shift. For the latter, it is necessary to possess the knowledge of gears and their matching speeds. In case you are driving at a higher-than-usual speed designated for a gear, your car will always consume a high amount of fuel.
  3. Maintain a Steady Pace: This is one of the first things that most of us are taught while learning at a driving school. Sudden deceleration or acceleration will not just impact fuel consumption, but also affect vehicles travelling behind or ahead. Aggressive driving always leads to high fuel consumption and plan your work in a manner so that you can drive at a steady speed.
  4. Driving in Winter: Cold weather has a lot of potential to decrease your fuel economy by a minimum of 20%, especially when you make numerous short trips. Other harmful factors include low tire pressure, slow traffic on snowy roads, and changes in the cold weather. If you have the facility, try to park the car indoors, which will allow its engine to remain warm. After you start the car, wait for it to idle for a minute, so that the engine can perform well and deliver a good mileage.
  5. Driving in Summer: Contrary to the cold, heat is helpful for your vehicle since warm air can move through the vehicle in an aerodynamic manner. When you sit inside the vehicle for a journey, always get rid of the warm air by opening the windows and running the blower for a few minutes. Using the air conditioner after this will help cool your vehicle in an efficient manner. Do not forget to find a shaded spot to park your car.
  6. Do not Carry too Much Cargo: The disadvantage of heavy cargo in your vehicle is that it will lead to more fuel being burnt for motion because of the additional weight.
  7. Air Cooling or Heating in an Idle Vehicle: You are advised not to keep the heater, or the air conditioner switched on in an idle vehicle. This is because the practice can waste as much as roughly half a gallon of gas within one hour.

Tire rotation is important when it comes to safety. Special patterns need to be followed when you fix your front and rear tires. Rotating tires will help you to give a long life to your tires as well as performance longevity. If you fix a tire with a similar type, you will be able to perform well and drive smoothly.

What is a Tire Rotation?

Tire rotation is nothing but changing the position of the tire side by side on each of the tire in your vehicles. As per the Manufacturer Standards, try to rotate your tires between every 3,000 to 8,000 miles. Many people will do it when the vehicle’s oil is to be changed.

Regular rotation of your vehicle tires will give the tires a chance to continue to perform well. Try to find the punctures and damages when you fix the tires in your vehicle. Maintaining proper air pressure is also one of the factors to keeping up with the tires. So, try to maintain balanced air pressure within the tires to prevent a blowout or flat. Recheck the air pressure and fix it and get or do the rotations of your tires routinely to help with better speed and smoothness for a long time.

Why is Tire Rotation Important?

Rotation of tires is important for standard care. Rotating the tires frequently will help the tire s to wear evenly across the four tires in your car. So, balance will make perfect functioning of the tire. Try to rotate your tires at least every 3,000 to 8,000 miles you drive. This would be needed for acceleration, rotation, and speed of the wheels, and the performance of the vehicle. Try to choose the same type and pattern of the tires so that it will function in the same way so your car will function accurately.

Rotating the tire will give even tread depth for uniformity can help to handle consistently in all four tires. This will improve the performance and keep you safe.

What Tire Rotation Pattern Should I Utilize?

Using the same pattern of tire will help it to perform well. So, try to maintain the same type of tire and make sure to follow the guideline when fixing or rotating the tire. Check the tire to see if they are unidirectional or not and check if they are a similar type or not; carefully follow the process when rotating the tires. Whenever you want a tire, you must focus on a similar pattern and model you get even functionality with accurate performance.
